The core discipline at KVIST is Architecture. We support our clients from discussions about an initial idea through to construction and occupation. No two projects are the same nor are any clients identical, so we aim to offer a customised service that is uniquely suited to your particular requirements and tastes. We work all across the South from our main offices in Bristol and Farnham, just outside London.
We pride ourselves on outstanding communication with our clients and project teams. A flexible approach and a broad portfolio of experience enables us to tackle work that is wide ranging across different sectors. We can provide tailored design and project services for bespoke homes including extensions and remodelling, as well as commercial schemes. We also have experience working with external funding bodies and understand that managing budget constraints and working with other stakeholders is often a key driver for a projects success.
Music recording rooms and workspace fit-out for TEN87 Studios
In late 2015 KVIST were commissioned by TEN87 Studios to provide architectural and interiors services to assist with the expansion of their growing business into an empty warehouse across the road from their existing site in Seven Sisters, London. This role quickly developed to include project management as the scheme went through an intense process of value engineering to meet strict budget criteria and progressed towards work on site.
TEN87 provide affordable, creative workspace and specialised recording environments for music and sound professionals.
The design focuses on creating different areas which artists can inhabit, work in and collaborate with a 'light touch' industrial aesthetic that reinforces the TEN87 brand. On top of a new mezzanine structure, semi-enclosed plywood 'huts' maximise the space in between the existing low metal trusses and provide privacy for meetings and focused work. A creative yet simple lighting design seeks to tame the large vaulted warehouse space around the structures so that it becomes a useful, desirable area to break out into.
Close liaison with the client, and collaboration with the acoustics consultants through a series of design workshops, has been crucial to ensuring that the specially designed recording pods meet with the tenants specific needs whilst allowing replicability and economies of scale for future expansion on different sites. One of the design outcomes was to use the shape of the pods to form an internal street of tessellating rooms which is both space efficient and encourages collaboration between users.
